The Center for State and Local Finance often conducts incorporation studies, measuring the fiscal impact of proposed cities. Most recently, the center’s team instead looked at the fiscal impact of the potential incorporation of Sharon Springs on Forsyth County’s revenues and expenditures.
According to the study, the incorporation of Sharon Springs could cause a revenue gap of $3.1 million to $4.8 million in Forsyth County, which could lead to a property tax increase between 6.6 and 10.2 percent for county residents.
