As of October 1, the Center for State and Local Finance, the Fiscal Research Center and the International Center for Public Policy (ICePP) will operate under an umbrella structure aimed at strengthening the Andrew Young School’s applied public finance research and training.
The Public Finance Research Cluster uses the natural synergies and staff expertise among the three centers to increase the impact of the public finance research and training in the United States and abroad. The centers will continue to operate under their own names, but they will share staff and leadership.
Jorge Martinez-Vazquez (right), Regents’ Professor of Economics and ICePP director, will head the Public Finance Research Cluster, and he will also continue to serve as director of ICePP. Martinez-Vazquez’s main interests are in public sector economics, and he has published more than 20 books and numerous articles in academic journals.
The cluster and Andrew Young School are also seeking a new faculty member to build upon its work. See the announcement here.
