Can Chen, an associate professor at Andrew Young School of Policy Studies and an affiliate at CSLF and John R. Bartle at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, recently published a book, “Innovative Infrastructure Finance: A Guide for State and Local Governments” by Springer-Palgrave Macmillan. The federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 is the largest public investment since the Interstate Highway system. While state and local governments face a serious infrastructure deficit, there are a growing number of innovations in state and local infrastructure financing. However, current information on innovative financing is scattered and time‐consuming to find.
This book fills that gap and offers practical suggestions for state and local government managers considering the adoption and implementation of innovative infrastructure financing. It provides detailed case studies that describe new approaches to fund state and local infrastructure development. These lessons in applying innovations are beneficial for state and local government practitioners, policy analysts, and faculty and students in public administration, policy, and public finance.
