Next-Gen Public Finance Annual Conference
A collaboration among the nation’s top fiscal policy programs organized to host the annual NextGen Public Finance Conference following informal discussions at the 2015 conference, “Federal, State, and Local budgets: A Conference on America’s Fiscal Future,” held at the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. The original collaborating institutions continue to host the annual conference:
- the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University,
- the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University,
- the University of Maryland School of Public Policy and
- the Government Finance Research Center, College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs, at the University of Illinois Chicago.
The inaugural “Next Generation of Public Finance Conference” was held at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies in Atlanta on May 5-6, 2016, with the overarching goal of bringing together top academics and practitioners to examine and present on some of the field’s most pressing, relevant and future-facing topics.
There have been six annual conferences since then, each focusing on public finance topics that are or will be front and center in the policy debate in the coming decades. These topics include policy issues at the national and subnational levels in domestic and international contexts and could include, but are not limited to: behavioral responses to taxation, public budgeting, public financial management, evaluation of public expenditures, contingent liabilities, and advancing digital innovation in public finance and policy.
The annual NextGen Public Finance Conference will be hosted at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy in 2023. More information on Call for Proposals coming soon.
