Publications
The dissemination of our evidence-based policy research is a key objective of the Center for State and Local Finance’s mission. In an effort to reach the widest audience, the Center publishes a variety of policy-centered research on important topics in tax policy, budgeting and financial management, education finance, and economic development and urban policy. Working papers represent the foundation of our research and are academic-level analyses. Policy briefs and reports focus on the practitioner perspective and are less technical and more actionable. We also publish our presentation slides, primarily from fiscal policy and tax policy conferences.
Working Papers
Working papers are academic-level studies that will eventually be submitted to peer-reviewed publications. We release our working papers to illustrate the range and current research interests of our team as quickly as possible. Our working papers series spans micro-level examinations of property taxes in Georgia to sweeping state-level evaluations of fiscal transparency.

Policy Reports & Briefs
Policy reports and shorter policy briefs are integral aspects of our publications and often stem from our academic publications. These practitioner-centered works provide valuable insights into the policy landscape and promote actionable, evidence-based recommendations.

Presentations
CSLF researchers are very active in the policy community. We regularly present our research as part of conference panels and participate in roundtable discussions of current and emerging problems in public finance. We publish the slide decks to these presentations, as well as those accompanying lectures or addresses to other outside organizations.
